"Companies want three types of designers in 2026. The traditional senior isn't one of them."

I believe I am the cracked new grad type of designer. While this may seem obvious since I will be graduating next year, another part is that since I am basically having a two year crash course in graphic design, everything is new to me. I have to work quickly not only to keep up with assignments and my peers, but also because that is how the world is headed.

As the article suggests, we have to keep up with the changing world, and we “don’t carry attachment to the discover-diverge-converge process because we never fully internalised it.”

I carry knowledge of my previous major, architecture, and the software I learned from it, however it is not the same as graphic design and it does not use AI in the same way.

As I mentioned, since I am doing a two year crash course in graphic design, I need to be a fast learner. I am taking courses at the same time that most students would take over a period of semesters. I believe this will benefit me after graduation to help me find a job.

Even this image above could be improved greatly. I put in different variations of prompts into Google Gemini to try and get the image I was imagining, but it is nowhere close. I have a lot to learn still, and I think that is what the cracked new grad student is.

With an adjusted prompt on Google Gemini, the image above was created. I still have many issues with it, and like I said, I have a lot to learn, I do think it is an improvement on the first image.
